On June 30, 2022, the father of the 23-year-old content creator uploaded one last video to Technoblade’s channel to share that his son had passed away after a long struggle with stage four cancer. The beginning of the video contains a message recorded by Technoblade himself a mere eight hours before his death. “Thank you all for supporting my content over the years,” he said. “If I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time, as those were the happiest years of my life.”

The Minecraft player also thanked everybody who had purchased hoodies, plushies, and channel memberships to show their support in the past year. He stated that the money would in part be used to help send his siblings to college if they wished to go. After expressing his hope that everyone would go on to live long, prosperous, and happy lives, the content creator stated simply, “Because I love you guys. Technoblade out.”
In the rest of the video, Technoblade’s father talks about the hard time his son had coming up with a final message for his viewers. His illness, the medical apparatus hooked up to him, and the uninspiring environment hindered his ability to focus and write. Finally, his father told him, “Alex… if you want to write one last video and you’re waiting for things to get a little better, then I would say, don’t wait. I don’t think things are going to get any better anymore.” That spurred Technoblade to record his final message on his father’s laptop, a brief goodbye that his father says wasn’t everything his son wanted to say to his viewers, but “he got the main points.”
In August 2021, Technoblade returned to his channel after a two-month hiatus and explained in a video that he had been diagnosed with stage four cancer in June. Initially, he felt pain in his arm that spread to his shoulder after a few days, which began to swell. The content creator visited the hospital, thinking he had perhaps broken a bone somehow, but was instead given a much more dire diagnosis. Understandably, Technoblade’s output to his channel diminished as he underwent chemotherapy. Fans were of course supportive, and Minecraft content creators Dream and awesamdude pledged to donate money to cancer research.
In the goodbye video, Technoblade’s father said, “Alex, you don’t have to do anything else. You’ve done so much for so many people, millions of people. And if you want to now, you can rest.” For the next month, Minecraft players can write their condolences in-game on the Hypixel server, which the YouTuber played on the majority of the time. These messages will be printed out and sent to Technopixel’s family.
