According to Hennepin County Jail records, Lynch, 21, was arrested by University of Minnesota Police shortly before 1:30 p.m. CT Sunday. He had not been charged but was being held without bond as of Monday morning.

A 6-9 transfer from Illinois State who played high school basketball in Edina, Minnesota, Lynch sat out last season under NCAA transfer rules but was expected to be a significant contributor in 2016-17.

“Men’s basketball student-athlete Reggie Lynch has been arrested on probable cause of criminal sexual conduct,” the university’s statement said (via ESPN.com). “As a result, he is suspended from all team activities indefinitely, pending the outcome of the investigation. As an athletics department and a University, we are committed to respect toward all members of the community, and we hold all of our student-athletes accountable to the highest standards.”

His arrest is only the latest trouble in coach Richard Pitino’s program.

Already this year, three players — Nate Mason, Dupree McBrayer and Kevin Dorsey — were suspended for the rest of the 2015-16 season in March for posting a sex tape on social media, and another, Carlos Morris, was dismissed in February for violating team rules.

Last August, former Gophers player Daquein McNeil pleaded guilty to third-degree assault charges, stemming from a domestic-violence incident with his girlfriend that led to his being kicked off the team. Pitino also dismissed Zach Lofton for failing to “meet the expectations and obligations of the team.”
