Set in 1970s LA, Minx centers around Joyce (Lovibond), a hardworking young feminist who joins forces with a porn publisher (Johnson) to create the first erotic magazine for women. Season one premiered on HBO Max in March 2022 to generally favorable reviews. However, Minx was cancelled in December, even though production on season 2 was almost complete.

Now, Minx has been picked by Starz, where the second season will premiere exclusively. “We have always felt this show would be a perfect fit for our brand with our dedication to narratives by, about and for women,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO for STARZ, in a statement. “STARZ is proud to be the new home for this incredible show that has drawn in well-deserved critical acclaim. We’re excited to welcome Ellen and the talented ‘Minx’ team to the network and can’t wait to bring its passionate fans the second season."

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the STARZ family, and for the opportunity to introduce Minx to a brand new audience," said Minx creator, showrunner, and executive producer Ellen Rapoport. “We’ve found the perfect home. Our writers, cast and crew have created something truly special in Season 2, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.” Rapoport serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Paul Feig, who said, “That audiences will be able to watch Ellen and our cast’s amazing new season two as well as rewatch or discover season one for the first time has us jumping for joy and thanking our lucky STARZ.”

Minx is one of many streaming properties that have been cancelled in the wake of the Warner Bros. and Discovery merger. Several big-name HBO and HBO MAX properties have been cancelled, including Westworld, Raised by Wolves, The Nevers, Batman: Caped Crusader and the infamous Leslie Grace Batgirl movie, which was cancelled before it could be released. Sadly, most of these shows and movies will not be picked up by other networks or streamers, but it’s nice to know that at least one of these cancelled series has found a new home.

Minx season 2 does not currently have a release date but is expected to premiere on STARZ in 2023.
