However, as with any MMORPG, MIR4 and its Classes do have a preferred approach to both PVP and PVE. And for players who prefer taking the fight to monsters instead of their fellow players, each Class has a unique approach to PVE that they can tap into to maximize their character’s potential.
Edited on June 17, 2022 by Rhenn Taguiam: With MIR4 remaining as one of the most popular play-to-earn MMORPGs in the market in 2022, fans of the game might be interested in learning just how best to approach PVE for their characters and builds. This is especially the case with the Arbalist becoming a surprisingly competent Class added to the game last year, fans might want a quick runthrough of how their builds can dominate the PVE landscape considering the game’s focus on PVP combat. Among these tips include playstyles for its classes - including a focus on burst damage, synergies with healing, as well as proper attack positioning.
5 Sorcerer
Following in the footsteps of classic MMO spellcasters, the Sorcerer in MIR4 is arguably the strongest when it comes to ranged and spell damage. Their control over the elements allows them to unleash some of the strongest attacks in the game, allowing them to dominate AOE in PVE with ease.
Unfortunately, Sorcerers do suffer from a lack of sustain and survivability. Their weak frames make them extremely vulnerable to enemies that find a way past their defense. Sorcerers easily get overwhelmed by huge numbers, which necessitates long-distance combat.
Why Choose The Sorcerer?
Despite their rather complicated array of abilities, the Sorcerer does specialize in adapting to almost any combat situation. Aside from their strong magical attacks, their supportive spells allow them to turn the tide of battle even in small numbers.
Anyone who plans on playing the Sorcerer should remember to be on the lookout for opportunities to counter opponents. Sorcerers have a toolkit that’s heavily dependent on adjusting to an enemy’s strategy - so familiarity with the Sorcerer’s spells and the enemy’s inherent weaknesses can almost always guarantee victory to the player.
Sorcerer PVE Playstyle:
The vulnerability of the Sorcerer in close range incentivizes ranged play, and the right usage of their skills can make farming easier to solo since they have plenty of crowd control, burst, and AOE options. This is usually thanks to the Frost Orb and Flame Orb combination, which slows down enemies and leaves them open for bursts.
Afterward, Flame Strike and Frozen Block are decent defensive skills should Magic Shield deplete quickly, as the aforementioned attacks allow the Sorcerers to strike back with harsh counters. Lastly, AOE skills like Blizzard and Chain Lightning can finish off mobs and whittle out elites due to their range and innate damage.
Notable Skills
Given the Sorcerer’s wide array of spells, they can tap into various elemental spells to achieve a wide variety of effects. However, the Sorcerer’s other utility and defensive skills are equally as impressive, as these give them an edge depending on the situation. Some of their most notable skills include:
Dragon Tornado: This Ultimate Attack unleashes a fiery twister that can devastate the entire battlefield, courtesy of its powerful AOE damage. Frozen Block: A great defensive skill, this freezes the Sorcerer’s body and makes it temporarily immune to attacks. Enemies who try to attack the Sorcerer will also be frozen temporarily. Chain Lightning: A nifty AOE, Chain Lightning can electrocute not just one enemy but enemies surrounding it. Dark Vortex: This spell opens up a path to another dimension, sucking enemies nearby to its event horizon as it deals damage. This is a great deterrent to enemy assaults, as the Sorcerer can drag them in any direction they choose.
4 Warrior
Being the tank, Warriors are expected to lead the charge and be the last one falling. Boasting the best sustain and survivability in the game, Warriors stay true to their nature as tanks with high defensive stats and a plethora of aggressive skills. Their taunts, crowd control, and debuffing skills make them great for both AFK farming and AOE.
Interestingly, Warriors have an immense lack of mobility and magic damage, making them unideal for heavy DPS roles. Given their high defense, Warriors are best delegated to the front lines and to take on aggro from bosses and mobs.
Why Choose The Warrior?
Thanks to their straightforward nature, the Warrior is easily one of the best classes in the game in terms of balance. Their incredible base defense, health, and attack make them ideal for beginners to the game. Moreover, their high defense means the game won’t punish them as much if they commit mistakes throughout the course of a raid.
From a veteran’s perspective, the Warrior is still an enjoyable class given its access to straightforward damage-dealing combos. Its well-balanced nature makes it a relatively safe PVE class to play, although some would want more variety seen in the other classes.
Warrior PVE Playstyle:
Due to the tankiness of the Warrior, a lot of their PVE capabilities fall on how they organize their skill toolbars to capitalize on their damage capabilities. It’s ideal for their Bar 1 to emphasize on crowd control and eliminating initial crowds, something they can do with Barbaric Charge, going into Berserk, Void Slash, Ground Smash, Gale Slash, and finishing Lion’s Roar. This could easily eliminate easier mobs before Warriors can proceed to elite foes.
When facing elite enemies, Warriors can switch to Bar 2. This time around, they began with Crescent Strike and then followed Body Check and Splitting Slash. The final skills in this Bar 2 depend on certain situations, whether the Warrior needs to taunt (Riposte), pulls (Iron Shackles), and evasion (Unbreakable Stance).
Notable Skills
Warriors have a large emphasis on massive attacks that hit almost everything around them. It’s this pattern that Warriors get to aggro most enemies around them and redirect their focus to them. Some of their most notable skills include:
Dragon Flame: This Ultimate Attack infuses the Warrior’s attack with Chi Fire. When it hits the ground, the environment becomes ablaze and the Warrior gets a damage boost throughout the duration. Splitting Slash: This attack cancels enemy skills, giving the Warrior more than enough time to unleash a counter and attack everything on sight. Iron Shackle: This low-cost skill drags enemies towards the Warrior, making the way for an easy combo. Unbreakable Stance: This small AOE provides an immense damage boost and evasion boost to the player, allowing the Warrior to unleash fierce attacks without worrying much about repercussions.
3 Arbalist
Ever the talented marksman, the Arbalist serves as the equivalent of a ranged DPS in the game. Akin to archers and rangers of other MMOs, Arbalists enjoy obliterating foes from afar while ensuring she and her allies always have escape routes prepared.
Thanks to her power over distance, the Arbalist is a great class choice for players who want to keep safe. Their plethora of skills can ensure they can engage and disengage from combat very quickly.
Why Choose The Arbalist?
Aside from the Sorcerer, the Arbalist is essentially the only other ranged DPS class in the game. And compared to the Sorcerer’s penchant for magic-infused attacks, the Arbalist’s more mellow and down-to-earth skills give players a lot more wiggle room to play around the battlefield.
Moreover, the Arbalist’s arsenal of mobility-focused moves gives them the much-needed flexibility for ranged DPS to keep on repositioning themselves to get the best vantage point in combat.
Arbalist PVE Playstyle:
Distance is key for the Arbalist, and players would want to capitalize on this Class’s ranged capabilities to maintain ease of access in farms and PVE. Unlike other Classes, Arbalists excel best when they capitalize on killing one opponent at a time, since their critical damage improves the more they focus on a single target.
Try to add positioning into the mix based on this variable, especially since Arbalist attacks can pierce and attack opponents behind their targets. With the right jumps and moving around, Arbalists can line up opponents for powerful piercing shots and make way for faster farms.
Notable Skills
Being the ever-reliable hunter, the Arbalist has a wide range of hunting-oriented skills that ensure their aim is true and their attacks are swift. Here are some attacks that help showcase the Arbalist’s prowess:
Arrow Rain: Serving as their Ultimate Attack, Arrow Rain will unleash a barrage of arrows to an area that weakens enemies that get hit. Cloaking: One of the bread-and-butter moves of the Arbalist, this skill leaves them invisible to foes. When done properly, attacks from this position deal better damage. Illusion Arrow, Burst Shell: Serving as both a teleportation and swift attack move, these skills give the Arbalist much-needed combat mobility. Flash Arrow: This is a stunning attack that can give the Arbalist’s allies the time they need to make a counter-attack.
2 Taoist
Taking on the role of the support and the healer, the Taoist specializes in keeping the entire team alive. They boast amazing healing and supportive capabilities, making them much-needed assets in combat. Unlike other healers, Taoists also have incredible crowd control and melee combat potential, allowing them to join the front lines.
However, Taoists don’t boast as high DPS in melee compared to the Warrior, and their durability isn’t as high as the Lancer’s either. Taoists can deal damage as needed in raids, but they’re best reserved behind the scenes to heal the rest of the party.
Why Choose The Taoist?
Players who love martial arts will appreciate the Taoist’s penchant for close-quarters combat. Given this distance to enemies, this class isn’t advised for players who are unfamiliar with the idea of fighting enemies this up close all the time. With this in mind, the Taoist does have a steep learning curve - especially when it comes to the balance of healing and dealing damage.
In terms of playstyle, the Taoist relies on gap-closing against the enemy‘s forces. Taoists who manage to outpace the enemy through their healing will be able to dominate battles quite easily. And in terms of teamfights, understanding which combination of skills to use can easily control the flow of battle.
Taoist PVE Playstyle:
Unlike other PVE Classes, the Taoist excels not primarily due to their attacking skills, but because of how these skills synergize with their healing capabilities. Players need to master the flow of their Taoist heals first before proceeding to hard damage in PVE, wherein the right balance between standard Heals, the defensive Guardian Circle, and the reviving Greater Heal can make or break a farming rotation.
Once Taoists get the hang of these healing abilities, they can start synergizing them with their attacking abilities. Sunbeam Sword and Moonlight Wave are ideal combo starters for their straightforward damage, whereas Moonlight Orb and Tai Chi are decent crowd controls to pave the way for emergency heals or assists from teammates.
Notable Skills
Being true martial artists, most of the Taoist’s skills come in the form of martial arts. However, they do boast a wide array of support spells and healing skills that boost the team’s survival in battle. Here are some notable skills from their arsenal:
Ray Of Light: Serving as their Ultimate Attack, the Taoist unleashes a ray of light that attacks everything in front of them. Heal: The piece de resistance of the Taoist, Heal is perhaps the best healing ability in the game. When activated, this heals both the Taoist and their allies. Guardian Circle: When triggered, Guardian Circle boosts the overall defense of the Taoist and their allies against physical damage. Expulsion Circle: When activated, the Taoist will be capable of resisting spell damage. This is a nifty buff against Sorcerers and other magic-dependent opponents.
1 Lancer
Serving more like a hybrid melee-magic class, Lancers use the long spear to dominate mid-range with a mixture of swift stabs and magic attacks. Boasting high mobility, Lancers can strike enemies up close or unleash a barrage of spells from afar. They have great crowd control skills and debuffs, allowing them to play with enemies and bosses from the front lines.
Thanks to their specializations, Lancers work best for solo grinding, especially for AFK farming. However, their durability isn’t as high as that of the Warrior’s, making them unideal tanks for team play.
Why Choose The Lancer?
Players with experience in other MMOs will love the Lancer and its potential to deal the highest DPS in the game. Similar to Rogues and other DPS-intensive roles in other titles, the Lancer has a toolkit that specializes in high mobility and high intensity, forcing players to constantly be on the lookout for opportunities to maximize their rotations.
Given their high damage output, Lancers are almost always in-demand when it comes to raids. With their support abilities, Lancers also help their allies outlast enemies in terms of overall damage. However, their high learning curve can make Lancers quite discouraging to play.
Lancer PVE Playstyle:
The PVE supremacy of the Lancer is immediately apparent considering that they offer the most consistent top damage with both attack range and DPS, incentivizing players to not just play harshly but also almost automatically safely from mid-range.
The ideal PVE playstyle here is to ensure that all the Lancer’s skills are first levelled up equally to ensure DPS damages are scaled consistently. That way, fighting multiple opponents become much easier when using the Ravaging Blow + Ascending Dragon pairing, making way for consistent kills and farms.
Notable Skills
Speed is key for the Lancer, and their skills reflect this necessity. With the right combination of attacks, a Lancer’s DPS can help them beat most elite mobs and bosses. And at the right hands, Lancers can even top PVP charts with their unbridled mobility. Here are some skills to pay attention to:
Dragon Spear: Serving as their Ultimate Attack, Dragon Spear grants temporary invincibility during casting and can even knock down its target upon hit. This is a devastating Ultimate that can open enemies to heavy-hitting combos. Ravaging Blow: One of the Lancer’s best combo starters, this is a stunning strike that can reduce enemy speed and reaction time. Crescent Blade: This seemingly-ordinary attack is a great way to finish combos, as it has a high chance of knocking down enemies. If this is a success, the Lancer can once again start another high-hit combo. Double Strike: Another popular combo finisher, Double Strike not only deals high damage. When used against a chilled or stunned enemy, Double Strike not only applies additional damage but also buffs the player’s attack.
