Surprisingly, even the hateful humans can see the error in the demons’ snap judgments, as they have no issue with acknowledging Anos Voldigoad as the strongest adversary of the lot, regardless of his lineage. However, even when the proof is in the pudding, most Royalists cannot fathom submitting to a hybrid, especially with his annoying fan club’s incessant lingering.

The following content contains light novel spoilers not yet divulged in Season 1 (and possibly Season 2) of Misfit of Demon King Academy, currently streaming on Crunchyroll.

7 The Anos Fan Union (The Half-Breed Magic Girls)

Members:

Ellen Miheis Jessica Arnet Shelia Mijem Xia Minsheng Himka Houra Maia Zemt Carsa Kurnoah Nono Inota

Led by the mystical Misa Iliorogue, this group of girls wishes to inspire tolerance between purebloods and hybrids, particularly after being publically disowned by their own Royal families due to their tainted blood. They also happen to be Anos Voldigoad’s biggest fans and, astonishingly, one of his most valuable secret weapons, as the cheerleaders’ Power Of Love saves the day on more than one occasion.

When this bevy of babes breaks into song, their devotion serves to strengthen their Master with more force than even 10 million humans could provide (with the Aske spell’s assistance). Even though the Fan Union is wildly outmatched by Emilia Ludwell, the determined girls put their endurance on full display as they erect countless barriers to protect both mother and sword, delaying her assault long enough for Anos’ arrival.

6 Sheila Glanzudlii (Spirit-Demon Hybrid)

The celebrated Lay Glanzudlii was raised by his adoptive mother, Sheila, who fans only really get to know when she is already on her deathbed suffering from an (assumedly) incurable sickness. Stemming from the Spirit People, Sheila heavily relies on what is essentially the power of prayer, as the tales, sentiments, and traditions that fuel one’s beliefs are transformed into a type of energy source for Spirits. Having long forgotten which tradition she represents, Lay’s mother began quite literally fading away, her body assimilating with the lost memories.

Once Anos connected the dots to discern Sheila’s relationship with the passion for craftsmanship and heals her using Ingall, the formerly frail woman morphs into her true form. With Lay at the helm, Spirit Sword Sheila slices through Melheis’ Beno Ieven like butter, allowing the good guys to gain the advantage over their brutal nemesis.

5 Lay Glanzudlii (By Default)

Lay (aka Ray Gransdori) is an amalgamation of many things and, although he may stem from a Royal bloodline, those purists expelled him from their presence due to his lack of magical abilities. The demon boy was subsequently raised in a hybrid household (which would technically have an overall effect on his epigenetics) and grew up to be one of the greatest swordsmen of his time. Things get stranger when his Heroic Human roots are revealed, as Lay is the reincarnation of the almighty Kanon, but in a Demon form.

Due to his odd origin story, Lay can effectively brandish Spirit, Demonic and Holy Swords, with enough control to duel-wield “opposing” blades simultaneously. His strengths are downplayed somewhat in the anime, particularly concerning how easily Anos eliminated Lay’s six Sources. However, the Swordmaster put up a much greater fight in the light novel.

4 Eleonore Bianca (Technically)

Although Eleanore is essentially a part of the Human forces, she is far from being a pureblooded, well, anything, as she only exists because Jerga’s Source got split into two individual magical entities (thanks to Heavenly Father God Nosgalia’s assistance). While restrained in Azesion, the raven-haired beauty has little authority over her life but is granted freedom after Anos intervenes to meld Human and Demonic Magic into one entity.

Eleanore’s power levels are comparable to that of a God and she is arguably one of the greatest wielders of Source Magic (in the anime, anyway). She can single-handedly cast top-tier spells such as De Ijelia, has a substantial influence over Aske, and can produce countless clones in a heartbeat (“birthing” 10,000 functional Zeshia replicas simultaneously).

3 Misha Necron (According To Everyone Else)

Although Misha is technically a pureblood demon, she dons a silver uniform and is treated just as poorly as any other member of the hybrid class due to her unnatural conception via Dino Jixes (while her twin sister, Sasha, is treated like the perfect princess). She quickly forms a bond with Anos, who cherishes his new friend from the get-go, assumedly unaware of their prior connection all those years ago. The King of Tyranny ensures to encourage Misha’s Creation Magic, declaring that her powers transcend his own. An astute judgment call, considering she is the reincarnation of The Goddess of Creation, Militia.

Not only can Misha construct complex magic circles with ease, but her unparalleled Creation Magic allows her to simultaneously build multiple detailed fortresses within seconds (a feat that is usually a group effort). Misha also specializes in Ice Magic, augmented by her beloved Lotus Ice Ring and she has impeccable skills at reading people and sensing their true intentions.

2 Misa Iliorogue (The Unsuspecting Wildcard)

While Misa first appears to be another inconsequential Magic Girl Mob character, when Lay starts to take an interest, she seems to step into the more elite (yet still underrated) role of a manic pixie dream girl. However, even with this upgraded status, viewers are still scraping at the bottom of the barrel encapsulating Misa’s full potential. As a young girl, the poor spirit-demon hybrid was disowned by her Royalist father while her mother is off on her own mission. However, they highly underestimated the soul within their daughter, which has a lineage linking back to the Spirit King Shin Reglia and the Great Spirit Reno.

The true shocker comes to light when Misa is revealed to be the treacherous Avos Dilhevia (with a secret skillset to boot!) Upon accessing the Fictional Demon King’s powers, Misa’s capabilities are akin to that of Anos himself, with the added feature of bonus Great Spirit abilities, which rivals even Reno, the mother of all spirits, of which the King of Tyranny has naught. Some believe Misa’s multifaceted magic (demonic, holy, and spirit) surpasses Anos Voldigoad’s in terms of versatility. However, his elevated Destruction Magic is arguably more effective on the battlefield.

1 Anos Voldigoad (The Demon King Of Tyranny)

The Demon King Of Tyranny has a great deal in common with One Punch Man’s Saitama, as his power levels are so elevated that most battles are won without even breaking a sweat (in most cases, a simple click of the fingers will do). Like all other reincarnates, Anos Voldigoad begins life anew at just 10% of his full strength, and yet even then, the one-month-old hybrid is potent enough to snuff any foe before him, including esteemed Demon Elders. There is very little that Anos can’t do as the jack of all magical trades, including the creation of his own set of spells, being the forefather of infamous Origin Magic, and single-handedly wielding Jio Graze, which usually takes a whole team to control.

Taking Anos head-on equates to fighting a losing battle (which also happens to be a suicide mission), as even destroying the Demon King’s Source won’t detriment his longevity. In strong contrast, Anos can send his foes through the revolving doors of death with Ingal by killing and resurrecting his victims with the utmost ease (and as Zepes Indu and Emilia Ludwell can attest, the revival part isn’t always a reward!) The King of Tyranny’s powers of deduction are as astute as his supernatural abilities, as this young leader can outplay anyone’s mind games and is always three steps ahead.
