During a December 2 Twitch livestream, Mizkif continued his Twitch Plays Pokemon adventures with Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, not a type of content that’s unique to his channel. The concept of Twitch playing Pokemon games began way back in 2014, and since then, the creator of it has gone through several generations of Pokemon all the way up to Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Gen 8. Although the Twitch Plays Pokemon idea has worked for some popular content creators, Mizkif failed to reach the numbers he may have been expecting given a statement that he later shared.

A clip of Mizkif’s Twitch Plays Pokemon stream has reached over 4,000 Reddit upvotes in less than a day, showing the moment that Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire starter Mudkip’s evolution is deleted by votes from the chat. The level 25 Marshtomp was selected next to a Shroomish in a PC storage box before being released by the trainer, making it disappear from the save file forever. Less than a minute after the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire starter was deleted, Mizkif ended the Twitch Plays Pokemon stream early before sharing a Twittlonger with his community that explained why he made the decision.
While many Mizkif fans expressed their disappointment in Twitch Plays Pokemon ending on the channel so suddenly, others suggested that the viewership was average for the time frame that he chose to stream during. As one Pokemon enthusiast pointed to the fact that the popular Twitch streamer didn’t have to be there because it’s basically an “interactive screensaver,” another stated their confusion with Mizkif canceling it when he wasn’t participating anyway.
