Cops in Russia who confirmed finding the young woman’s body have arrested a 45-year-old taxi driver for allegedly raping the 20-year-old and pouring concrete over her body after digging a hole in a basement below his garage. The singer’s body was discovered the night of June 8 in the basement of a shared garage in the Zavodskoy district of the city of Saratov, southeast of Moscow. The victim, whose real name was Elizaveta, had gone missing two days earlier....

She told the station that she and her husband decided that the best way to handle the situation was to have a “good sense of humor” about it. A day later the thief returned and took the package. “She got the special surprise from my daughter,” the mother told KSDK, adding that it “felt good to feel like we got some sort of justice” and hoped it would “make people think twice before they steal....

No charges were filed, according to the Springfield News-Leader. Green-Beckham, 20, was arrested early Saturday on "suspicion of drug activity," Springfield police representative Anthony Cunis said. He was picked up during a traffic stop. The investigation is ongoing, and Cunis declined to provide more information regarding the arrest or whether charges had been filed. The department will release more information on the case Monday, he said. Reports indicated the substance police found was sent away for testing....

Legal authorities said that the 39-year-old man had solicited young girls to perform sex acts for him through a live-streaming app. When investigators questioned him, he said he had used different online apps to collect videos and images of teenage girls engaging in explicit sexual conduct. Some of the girls were as young as 13 years of age. Authorities found 35 videos and over 250 images of possible child pornography on Salapuddin’s desktop and laptop computers, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said in a statement....

Researchers at the Microsoft Mixed Reality and AI Lab and ETH Zurich recently developed a new method that combines mixed reality and robotics. The term “mixed reality” (MR or MxR) refers to the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments, and it’s part of a growing effort to find better ways to use robots remotely. “Current systems require training and practice for operators to learn the abstracted commands,” Todd Richmond, an IEEE member and director of the Tech + Narrative Lab at Pardee RAND Graduate School, told Lifewire in an email interview....

Reddit user Maxatel concocted the Minecraft challenge, built it, and posted a video for fans to enjoy. The challenge itself is pretty simple, escape a tower via a door built near the top but the manner in which players escape is very clever. Maxatel built a large tower with a base of raw gold blocks that were introduced to the game in the caves and cliffs update, walls built from bedrock, and a roof made from glass to allow light to stream in....

That’s why Mojang should consider revisiting the desert pyramids and jungle temples in a future Minecraft update. Both of these structures have been in Minecraft for years, serving as charming details to some of the game’s less hospitable biomes, as well as sources of some hard-to-find plunder. However, as Minecraft has expanded and added more elaborate objectives for its players, these places feel increasingly trivial. Since Mojang is already refreshing so many familiar parts of the game lately, it might as well consider upgrading Minecraft’s desert pyramids and jungle temples....

In a post on Twitter the other day, the official Minecraft account has said that the latest Caves & Cliffs update will come with 91 new blocks. There was also a video linked in the tweet in which Mojang showed off the new blocks. The video states that many of the blocks will appear naturally in the game and won’t just be available in the creative features. One of the blocks includes a powdered snow block which players can actually walk through....

Governor Tim Walz said the surplus will allow for the expansion of economic opportunities for Minnesotans. He attributed the surplus partly to his administration’s efforts to curb COVID and aid the state in its comeback from the pandemic. “This is what responsible policies look like,” Walz told reporters. “This is what happens when you can invest in people.” Walz and Democratic lawmakers said the huge surplus shows that Democratic spending policies do work....
